Hi everyone,
I hope everyone is having a great autumn so far. It's one of my favorite times of the year, between the leaves changing and the cool, crisp air. Episode #15 aired last weekend, and as I have done in the past, I tried to feature a few songs by old favorites (Hem and Ani DiFranco, to name a few), and many new songs by people I'm just learning about, like Caroline Rose and Lera Lynn. I think it's a nice mix, and you can listen to it on the Archives page.
I'll be back again soon with a new show! In the meantime, enjoy the season!

White Walls #14
Hi everyone,
Sorry for the delay in posting about this show! It aired back in June, and it was a good one. I've been finding lots of good new music, and I tried to feature a lot of it in this show. There are some songs from favorite people (Dar Williams, Jenn Rawling, The Head and the Heart, for example), and many songs by people I've only recently learned about, like Milo Greene, Torres, and Daughter. White Walls #13 - The Seasonal Episode
Hello everyone,
I hope you're all having a festive season so far! Episode #13 - lucky #13! - features some of my favorite seasonal and holiday songs. Some of them are new favorites, but many have been on my seasonal playlist for years. I delved deep into Sufjan Stevens' abundance of holiday albums, and picked out many songs to anchor this episode. Also featured are Sarah McLachlan, Dar Williams, and a few surprises. It's nice to re-visit old favorites and find new ones for the coming years.
Here's hoping everyone has a peaceful and joyous season, and a very happy start to 2014!

White Walls #12
Hello everyone,
I'm excited to tell you about episode #12, which will air this weekend on SpiritPlants Radio. It features many of my favorites, and a few people I've just recently discovered. You'll recognize many of the names on the playlist if you've listened to my show before: Sarah Jarosz, Hem, Chris Pureka, and others. One of the names may not be familiar on its own, but Aiofe O'Donovan is a member of one my favorite bands, Crooked Still, and has just recently put out a great solo album. This is in addition to her great guest work with the Dave Douglas Quintet, which I've also included. As always, be sure to check out the schedule on SpiritPlants Radio, and check out some of the other great shows on tap this weekend.
I hope everyone has a great Labor Day weekend! It's always nice to feel autumn making its way into the area, but these last weeks of summer are sweet, too.

White Walls #11
Hello everyone,
I hope you're enjoying this weekend's programming on SpiritPlants Radio! I'm posting a bit late about my 11th show - too much time enjoying the beautiful spring weather here in New England! This show, like many others, featured some new artists that I've recently learned about, along with a few old favorites. Sera Cahoone is a particularly good find this go 'round, along with a few songs from Sarah Jarosz's most recent album. Patty Griffin's "Ohio" from her newest album will knock your socks off.
I hope you enjoy listening to this show as much as I enjoyed making it! It's hard not to appreciate good music when the air outside is so fresh and green!

White Walls #10
Hi everyone,
Happy (almost) spring! It certainly doesn't feel like spring here today, with all the snow we've gotten. This week, I'm celebrating my tenth episode by playing some newer (to me at least) songs that I've been particularly enjoying. While you may recognize quite a few of the names from past shows, I've tried to throw in a few songs from artists I haven't played before - Bruce Robison & Kelly Willis, Of Monsters and Men, and First Aid Kit have all had new(ish) albums lately, and I'm happy to add them into my mix. Hope you enjoy the show!

Old Favorites
Hi everyone,
This is my favorite time of the year: late autumn turning to early winter, before everything gets chaotic and busy with the holidays. It makes me think of blankets and football and many of my favorite things, which led me to think about some of my old favorite songs. This week, I went back to when I was in high school. Sarah McLachlan, Edie Carey, Dar Williams, Ani DiFranco - I still like all these artists, but I remember listening to these songs in particular over and over again. Not surprisingly, these songs feel as comfy-cozy to me as Sunday afternoons spent watching football under blankets.
This weekend, SpritiPlants Radio celebrates its 9th anniversary! I hope you'll go check out the schedule for all the other great shows that are featured this weekend! Here's to many more great years to come!
