Old Favorites

Hi everyone,

This is my favorite time of the year: late autumn turning to early winter, before everything gets chaotic and busy with the holidays. It makes me think of blankets and football and many of my favorite things, which led me to think about some of my old favorite songs. This week, I went back to when I was in high school. Sarah McLachlan, Edie Carey, Dar Williams, Ani DiFranco - I still like all these artists, but I remember listening to these songs in particular over and over again. Not surprisingly, these songs feel as comfy-cozy to me as Sunday afternoons spent watching football under blankets.

White Walls #8

Hi everyone,

Happy summer! This new episode is full of some relatively new (or at least new to me) music. Once again, there's a mix of all sorts of styles - some acoustic, folksy tunes mixed with a little more rocking ones, alongside some that are just hard to pin down. While there are some long-time favorites (Horse Feathers, Brandi Carlile, Dar Williams), I also included some artists who are pretty new to me. I'm always thrilled to find new music, and even happier when I can share it with you all!

Musical Roots of White Walls

Hi everyone,

It's been a while since my last show, but I think this one is worth the wait. When I was growing up, we only had three radio stations (and no music channels on TV). Two of the three played country music. We listened to the radio all the time, and so now, I look back at country music from that time as definitely playing a part in developing my musical taste. For White Walls #7, I've picked out a number of my favorites (many of which I hadn't heard in years).

While my tastes have definitely gone in all sorts of different directions, these songs remind me that songs from one's youth will always hold a special spot. I hope you all enjoy! New year, new episode
