White Walls #30: 8th Anniversary Show!

Hello everyone,

Happy Thanksgiving weekend, friends! I'm really excited to tell you about my show this week. Not only is it my 30th show, but it's my 8th anniversary on SpiritPlants Radio! And on top of all that, it's SpiritPlants Radio's 15th anniversary weekend!

For this anniversary show, I tried to include (as always) some new finds, like Dead Horses and Front Country, and some old favorites, like the Crane Wives and Florence and the Machine. I think there's a nice mix of fiddle-y bluegrass, with some great singer-songwriter vibes mixed in. I think you'll enjoy it!

I hope you all had a nice holiday leading into this weekend. What a great time to give thanks for all the hard work that goes into running such a great station, while listening to and enjoying the great shows that are planned! Head on over to SpiritPlants Radio to see the full schedule.

I'll be back soon with my annual winter show - stay warm til then!

Take care,
DJ Blue

White Walls #29 - Summer Living

Hi everyone,

I hope you are enjoying July! As a cold-weather lover, summer is usually rough. BUT this year has not been too bad here in New England (knock on wood). I'm excited to be back this week with a summer episode of White Walls. I discovered a new band recently, the Last Revel, and this show features several songs from their most recent album. I'm also really enjoying Florence + the Machine's new album, so you'll find a few songs from that on this episode too, along with all sorts of other fun stuff.

I hope you enjoy this episode! And don't forget to check out all the shows on SpiritPlants Radio - there's a great line-up this weekend.

Take care,
DJ Blue

White Walls #28: Happy Spring!

Hello everyone,

I hope you're all enjoying spring so far! The flowers are blooming and the air is fragrant with the scent of freshly cut grass. Spring in New England is beautiful! I'm so excited to share this week's show with you. It contains lots of new finds from some old favorites, like Hem, Cat Power, Tow'rs, and Jenn Rawling, but also quite a few artists who are new to me, like Wild Rivers and Holly Williams. I love finding new music, and this show is a great way to share with friends!

Please be sure to check out the rest of the schedule on SpiritPlants Radio! This weekend is a special Conspiracy Theory Radio Weekend, so be sure to tune in.

I'll be back in the next month or two with a new show!

Take care,
DJ Blue

White Walls #27: The Annual Winter Show

Hi everyone,

Happy December! We are enjoying our first snowfall of the year here in New England, so it's the perfect weekend for SpiritPlants Radio's Winter Weekend! On this week's show, I'm playing many of my favorite winter songs (which I play every year), along with a few new ones that I've never played. You'll hear songs by Sufjan Stevens, Sarah McLachlan, Mindy Smith, Brandi Carlile, and others.

Decembers have been a little frustrating and depressing for me the past few years, but this year, I'm hopeful that being in a new job will mean less stress. In that spirit, I'm trying to find new and better ways to appreciate the people and goings-on around me. So I'll take this opportunity to say thank you, SpiritPlants Radio, for giving me the opportunity to share some of my favorite songs with people around the world! Be sure to check out all the seasonal shows on the schedule this week!

Whether you celebrate any holidays this month, or just the season and new year, I hope it's a peaceful and joyful time for you! Long days and pleasant nights!

Take care,
DJ Blue

White Walls #26 - The Thankee Show

Hi everyone and a belated happy Thanksgiving!

It's hard to believe November is almost over and we're most of the way through autumn. This is my favorite time of the year, and I'm trying to enjoy all the leaves, cool days, and bare branches before winter comes.

In this week's show, I am playing quite a few old favorites, like Lori McKenna and Of Monsters and Men. But I also found some songs by some people I haven't played in a while, like Jenn Rawling and Ruth Moody, and some brand new music to me, from HoneyHoney and Lydia Ramsey.

I am grateful for so much this year, and sharing music with you through SpiritPlants Radio is definitely on that list. Check out all the other great shows playing this week!

I'll be back in just a few weeks to do my annual holiday show - see you then!

Take care,
DJ Blue

White Walls #25 - Late Summer

Hi everyone,

I hope you're all having a wonderful summer. It's hard to believe it's already coming to an end, but I cannot wait for autumn! I'm so happy to share my new show with you. It contains a lot of new-to-me songs from some of my long-time favorite artists, like the Crane Wives and Chris Pureka. But I also included some comforting (to me) songs from long ago, from Paula Cole and others. I think it's a nice mix of new and old!

As always, please check out SpiritPlantsRadio all weekend long for some great shows, and you can also find all of our playlists and archives there.

Yesterday, I was laid off from the job that I've had for the past seven years. It was a shock but here's to finding new doors while making lemonaide, and definitely to having more time for making and enjoying good radio shows!

I'll be back soon, and take care!

White Walls #24: Spring Show

Hi everyone,

Writing to you today on a gray and rainy spring day -- one of my favorite kinds! This time on White Walls, I'm sharing some new finds that I've discovered over the past few months, including Liza Anne and Daughter, and as usual, mixing in some of my old favorites: Deb Talan, Patty Griffin, and Horse Feathers, to name a few. There are even a few songs chosen just for my special someone. I think you'll enjoy it!

Tune in to SpiritPlants Radio for some great shows -- as always, there are some good ones on the schedule! I hope your day, rainy or not, is a peaceable one and happy May!

Take care,

DJ Blue
